New Commission

Here’s a concept sketch for a painting commission I got recently which of course stops all work on the other things I’ve been showing you.

I believe it is safe if I show you this, but I won’t share too much information, as yet again it is a surprise present.

Old & new

One of the “fun” things in my chosen career, is to work all day, then sit back, look and think, “Did I even do anything today?”

So here is the 18th century lady as she looks at the moment… plus a new piece I started, which is completely different.

Boudoir gal

Still a couple hours of light left to work but figured I’d show this as it is today. Hoping for a Vermeer meets Fragonard effect when done.

Black lines on kids

Here’s a view of during and after the application of the black outlines. The black lines really define the kids and details of each costume…. again I repeat, Woman’s Day thought a child should be able to do this.

Back from Provincetown

Now I’m back from Provincetown with renewed inspiration… In addition to the 18th century lady in her boudoir, I’ve begun two other pieces, and you’re seeing the first scribbles. The blue one will be an evening landscape with a sleeping heron, the red one containing 3 figures will be similar in technique to the portrait I did for Rose McGowan.

Seriously?

Here you now see the second half of the Woman’s Day Christmas tree on the left. Still with only the major color areas blocked in, based on the examples given from 1 small photograph that was included. I will now begin figuring out what colors work best on the figures that I can’t see in the example…. and for that matter what countries some of them are supposed to be from.

Keep in mind, A CHILD WAS SUPPOSED TO DO THIS?!?

An Artist Meet & Greet

Come by and say hi, swoon over my use of glazes of color to produce luminous effects, marvel at the accuracy of my ability to capture the model’s likeness, or just point and jeer as you drive by…. either will be appreciated
